Overview
This was a project to explore visual pleasure in the search for interpretable meaning. The viewer is located in culture and brings with them their understanding of the World through signs and symbols they have experienced. This piece explores the tension between the search and desire for clear meaning interpretation whilst being visually lost in a pleasurable experience on intricate, almost decorative graphic forms.
Outcomes
Technically the piece pushed the boundaries of the digital technologies used at the time (2002/3) whilst using hundreds of high resolution layers of artwork. The outcome was a piece that is highly visually impactful, elegant whilst being confusing and pleasurable in its open interpretation as a graphic art piece.
